Hello. And if you are reading this, welcome. You have all chosen to join Dead Reaping, a new joint-story that we will write as a team.
As a team.
This is the idea that I had in my head, but of course if someone wants to add something or take it away etc then feel free to have a suggestion. Everyone's voice will be heard.
Your story has a bad guy, right? Someone who causes mass destruction and is eventually beaten, in a very dramatic and expert way. I have had several. Ytol Heas, Durham Laslit and currently The Dark Shadow who will be featuring in my fanfiction, which I have not yet written.
But, what if the bad guys came back to life? What if they joined forces? What if they decided it was a good idea to take revenge on those who had beaten them? What if the entire world was in jeopardy and it was time, for the people who defeated them the first time, to stand up and fight for their lives?
However, teamwork would be the key factor. I know my villains are exceptionally powerful, able to destroy a building at a wave of a hand. So, of course, no one would be able to indivudally try and destroy numerous people of this strength. No one would be able to, by themselves, take on their army of evil mages who are all hell-bent on destruction.
So, of course, teamwork would be the only option. Even if our characters don't exactly get along, they would have to work together to be able to succeed. And, as a team, we would have to meet up. We would have to discuss what our plans were. We would work in small groups. We would have to plan things.
So why not write it as a story itself?
I was thinking, every 2 weeks we'd go on to a specific post and talk about what our plans would be, and reply etc as our character. We would have to talk about recent things that had happened, and the future plans for trying to take the army of villains down. And if there were other characters we wanted to use apart from the ones we've named our taken names after, we'd be able to use them too.
Then we could vote for someone who would write up the discussions in a story form. The person couldn't be chosen more than twice in a row, so everyone would get a turn. They would write up the discussion and post it as a story, so it could work as a meeting of our characters to discuss what they were going to do.
And, by nature, we would have to split off into smaller groups. If you wanted to partner with someone, you'd have to ask them and write about the same thing, just from a different perspective. So if, for example, your character and that of your friends' was going to target a specific person and team up to do so, both of you would have to write about the experience but saying how your character specifically reacted. How he/she felt.
These are just ideas, and it'd be great to hear some of yours. I will do several other posts where we decide on the people involved, as this post is just for general ideas and what the storyline will actually be about, in general. So next post, we the list of our characters we want to use. The post after that, villains. Then we can sort out groups, if people want to do that.
Then we start writing.
As for the rules, I'm trying to keep them as relaxed as possible. So, basically, if you want to add swear words into your story, make sure you put ***s between the first and last letters. And don't do anything with a character the owner doesn't want you to.
And also, be nice.
Welcome, Dead Reapers.
OK, nice idea but I kinda think it should be about one villain. And your character could be on their side or someone else's so keep your idea and do it a bit like this.
ReplyDeleteBrad, that's a bit too much like MC. One villain wouldn't be much of a problem for some of the more powerful characters.
ReplyDeleteBut it's a good idea. I'll see what the other people say.
ReplyDeleteWell, I've got another idea! There is a war between sorcerers in the world and its between good and evil and so you take any side there is and its like a war...
ReplyDeleteThis is nothing against you, but I flare up against the whole 'good and evil' thing.
DeleteA bad person never thinks of himself as bad, unless it's in a 'I'm so bad I'm so cool' way. They think they're doing the right thing.
Furthermore, there are never any good guys. Most of the people on the side of good will have an ulterior motive, like power or wanting to look awesome or stuff like that.
There will be very bad people on the good side.
And the bad guys will have a reason for being bad.
I'm sorry, I just analyse the world too much. *shrinks*
Also a cool idea, though. :) Especially interesting that you could pick both sides. :)
*grins*
ReplyDeleteWell, my main story . . . I never could think up the main bad guy, tbh, but I have a few theories of who it is. Their whole thing is that they're very secretive. My characters just deal.
And I suppose most people (that's, like, ordinary people) would deem my main character the bad guy.
Originally I wanted amoungst other things to write a story about a bad guy protagonist who stayed bad (because they all go good at the end. It's so unoriginal and depressing) but now I empathise with him too much and he has so many good points, so I think that kinda fell flat on its face.
I do have others to my main story, I guess . . . *frowns*
It sounds cool. :)
Maybe we could form the ideas together? A huge war between good and evil, and we all work as a team in the middle of the mayhem?
ReplyDeleteOnce more people come, then we can like all decide on a single storyline.
Star, you could use the villain who you have an idea who it is. ^^
ReplyDeleteSo what do you think of a war between good and evil.
ReplyDeleteBrad, it'd be a good idea. I replied to it up there. ^^ "Maybe we could form the ideas together? A huge war between good and evil, and we all work as a team in the middle of the mayhem?"
ReplyDeleteThat sounds good. :) *nods*
DeleteYes Star good idea!
ReplyDeleteYeah Dragona we could but read Star's comment it is really good!
Star, well maybe if you wanted your character to be a bad guy? That could work. ^^
ReplyDeleteI think doing 'good' and 'evil' is a bit too simple. The reader instantly knows who to be in favour of, who is right, who is wrong, who is good, who is bad... don't get me wrong, that's nice for entertainment, but...
ReplyDelete... I think it'd be more fun to write if we could do with having no set good and evil. Usually, each side thinks they're the good ones, and in the end it's the winner who decides who was right. I never heard of the winner not choosing themselves, so yeah. It also means the good ones always win. They're telling the story, after all, so they won, so they're the good ones...
I think it would be fun if we had two sides and wouldn't name one good and the other evil, but instead treated them equally. No way to know who'll win, too. ;)
We could even make some of our usually 'good' characters work with some of the villains. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, after all.
Just to make things more unusual. ;)
Yeah we could do that like some people betray some people and you never know who to trust. Yeah I think we should do that and Dragona would be aloud to use each others characters in each others stories...? Or do we have to ask them?
DeleteGood idea!
Awesome. *nods*
Delete^^I was also about to go on a huge rant saying how all leaders are corrupt and wars are all evil and therefore both sides in a war are evil and so on and so forth, but I decided to not say it.
But both sides are always as bad as each other. History is written by the victors. One side evil? No. Both sides have bad points and good points, and -
*stops*
Yeah.
So I agree - that would be a good idea. :)
I'm not that anti-war. Well, I am anti-war, I'm just more anti-people-in-power.
Blame my dad. :)
And it would be awesome to try and figure out who was right, which was the right side. Like in Histroy lessons!
. . . *is rather failing at making this look fun*
Well, looking at history I guess in a few rare cases, who WAS the bad one is quite clear. Usually the insane but still clever ones committing a genocide. ;)
DeleteBut yup, I think it's more fun to not let one side be the good one. ^^
Aquila, so... we give the "bad guys" a just reason for doing what they do, and let people know why? So they're equal in strength, and each of their reasons is equally good?
ReplyDeleteUm, nah. You still wrote bad guys. There are no bad guys. There are the ones that we up to now had as villains, but who says we can't work with them instead of against?
DeleteEspecially if it's not our OCs villain.
*nods*
DeleteYes.
No labelling.
Well, the characters can obviously think the other side is the bad side and stuff, but you know.
Damn me and my overexplaining. *frowns*
Imagine their confusement when someone they thought of as a good guy works with their villain. :P ^^
DeleteI have to go for my tea so brb. I'll be back soon, so keep discussing whilst I'm gone.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your tea:)
DeleteOK guys so I think we should leave Skul and Val out but you can vote me out...
ReplyDeleteI think we should leave Skul and Val out. We know them too much . . .
DeleteI mean like, they're too involved in SP, we know them a lot, and when writing about them we're pretty restricted.
DeleteAlso, they're . . . not boring, but we already have SP for Skul and Val, and also, nobody can do them better than Derek and we wouldn't get them right.
Even if you think you could get them right - not everyone will, will they?
Same here.
DeleteYeah I didn't mean that... it would be boring its just like there would be no danger because they've got Vile and Darquesse...
DeleteAlso, if we brought them in they'd probably end up solving the whole thing themselves as they've always done in the past, and then there'd be nothing for the rest of us to fight over! ;p
DeleteOK, yeah because it would just make it boring so I think we should leave them out..
ReplyDelete*nods* Awesome. :)
DeleteWell guys I think we've made our storyline... but what if the others don't agree with it?
ReplyDeleteWhen they come on, we discuss more with them. :)
DeleteIt'll adapt further, I'm expecting.
Yeah so we wait for the other:)
ReplyDeleteYeah so where are the others?
DeleteIs it still possible to join? I almost joined mc but it failed at the last second. So now I need somewhere to direct my creative energies. I have all these plotlines that are whirling around in my head, I need to adapt or get rid of them.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the others, but as far as I'm concerned you're welcome. ^^
DeleteI don't know ask Dragona
ReplyDeleteHello. I am back.
ReplyDeleteSo what have we decided so far?
And Edward, yes it's still possible to join. If you post your email then I'll add you as an author ASAP.
We've got not much further - when other people come the discussion will shift, so we're sort of waiting for that. :P
DeleteThe war between not good and evil still reigns supreme as an idea.
Hello?
ReplyDeleteHello. ^^
ReplyDeleteI think we should keep it simple. *nods*
ReplyDeleteHm. Maybe we could have some of the villains as in your original idea, and some other villains are enemies of that villains so decide to work with our OCs?
DeleteAnd I also think we should discuss it further.
ReplyDeleteBy the way Dragona once the story line has been decided (which it probobly has)... will you do a blog post about what its about so we kniw what where writing about?
ReplyDeleteYeah, I will.
ReplyDeleteAquila had a good idea on Yahoo. What if there is good vs evil, but some villains don't like each other so choose to work with our OCs? It could work, adding internal-conflict and drama in the team since they won't really like each other.
ReplyDeleteYeah I like it but I think we should leave out the good and evil and like people betray each other to help with our OC's?
DeleteYeah. No betrayals as such.
DeleteYeah but if we wanted could we start on one side and change our mind and join another side. It would make it more intresting because like some people could even be a DOUBLE agent!
DeleteGood and in that post will you like say it is now availble to post stories. But Dragona I think you should say you have to post first as you did start it
ReplyDeleteWe need to sort out the villains and stuff first, but yeah.
ReplyDeleteYeah but we have decided something if that is OK with you should I tell you?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think we should decide?
DeleteThat we should not include Skul and Val do you aprove?
DeleteThere aren't villains if there's no evil, but I get what you mean. :P
ReplyDeleteAnd internal conflict rocks. It makes it more realistic plus makes it way more interesting. *nods*
Well... each character dislikes a certain villain. Dragona dislikes Ytol Heas and Durham Laslit a LOT, and isn't too fond of Hawk either. Though he'd be willing to work with Hawk if it came down to it.
DeleteSo if some villains (the most powerful), were on the other team, and the weakest on ours...
I'm chuck.mooning@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteThanks Edward, I'll add you now.
ReplyDeleteI know my guy has a villain that he's forced to work with him so much they practically know each other. Whenever they meet they check up on eachother, they're almost friends, except they hit eachother a lot.
ReplyDeleteLike it a little spoiler on mine my character is being black mailed
DeleteWhat time zone is this blog in?
ReplyDeleteThat'd be good for the story. I've sent you an invitation so if you accept it, you'll be a member of Dead Reaping, and therefore a Dead Reaper. Congratulations. ^^
ReplyDeleteI have no idea. One moment, I'll change it so it's in GMT.
ReplyDeleteThat's better. It's all in GMT now. *nods*
ReplyDeleteSo how about by tonight we decide and then inform the others who could not ottend. Then tommorow or when you like post a blog post about what its like and then do your firts post and then we start posting?
ReplyDeleteTomorrow we'll be sorting out the characters, I think.
ReplyDeleteOK!
ReplyDeleteBecause then hopefully more people will be in attendence. ^^
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteIs everyone OK if we keep the ideas of the meetings and stuff?
ReplyDeleteWell maybe we could do one every 2 or 3 weeks just to talk about what could happen
DeleteI meant more with how I suggested up there. But that's pretty much the same thing.
DeleteMeetings would be good. *nods*
ReplyDeleteSo we'd go on to a specific post, talk AS your characters would, then someone writes it up?
ReplyDeleteSounds fun, although I may have two or three characters. There would have to be a scenario to keep the others out without them dying.
ReplyDeleteEdward, that's fine. During the meetings you could put "Character 1: ..........."
ReplyDelete"Character 2: .............."
So what date can we start posting?
ReplyDeleteBrad, dunno. When it's all decided?
ReplyDeleteJust making sure that was OK. Got to go, stuff to do, tea to drink. Just kidding I don't have tea.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow, I will post what we've decided tonight (if we've finished by tonight), and on the same post something where we can discuss characters.
ReplyDeleteK how long do you think it will take to decide?
ReplyDeleteLol Edward.
ReplyDeleteBrad, dunno. Maybe next week we'll be able to start writing.
ReplyDeleteKK good!
ReplyDeleteWe need to think of characters, villains, the order in which we will post... and just general details.
ReplyDeleteDragona I don't think the order we post in should matter just post when you wnat to! It would be better because it would just feel restricted
ReplyDeleteWe do.
ReplyDeleteLike, I'll have to adapt my storyline to make it fit . . . *frowns*
Star where aloud to post when we like!
DeleteWell, yeah I guess so.
ReplyDeleteStar, is it OK?
ReplyDeleteIf you're on about your individual fanfiction storyline, don't worry about it. This is like an entirely seperate series of SP fanfic, it could be set after all of ours.
ReplyDeleteCan we just post when we like? Please *Does puppy eyes*
ReplyDeleteYeah, sure Brad. As long as you keep to the meeting things and stuff.
ReplyDeleteDeal! Thanks!
ReplyDelete^^
ReplyDeleteThough your character CAN miss a meeting for example if they've been kidnapped.
Wait can you explain these meeting to me?
DeleteWBD... SOZ WILL BE POPPING IN AND OUT OF DISCUSSION
ReplyDeleteOk Brad. ^^
ReplyDeleteBasically, my thinking was that if characters are working as a team, they'll have to meet up. So every 2 weeks or something, we should have a meeting. Everyone would kind of play as their characters, and talk about what their plans are and to sort out things that have happened. For example, Brad, on the first meeting our characters would just getting to know each other. So during the meeting there'd be introductions and stuff. Like we pretend we are our characters, and answer as such. We answer as our characters would, and behave as they would etc.
Then, after the meeting, a person who would be voted to do so, would write up the meeting into a story form. So the meetings would be part of the story.
K good will attend but I might miss say my character is captured
ReplyDeleteOk. ^^
ReplyDelete*nods* The meeting sound cool. :)
ReplyDeleteUnique, too. :)
Might be quite a lot of death threats, though. :P
Yeah, but my storyline coincides with about every single storyline ever invented. World domination, uh, does that. :P
Well, not complete world domination.
But yeah.
My best solution is to involve time travel. Because the majority of my storyline is in the future anyway.
That would work. :)
Or how about we all just post when we want to like MC?
DeleteStar, I have a time travelling OC if that helps.
ReplyDeleteMy characters time travel sometimes. Although I like to use comas, there are other methods of time travel...
ReplyDeleteNot here! Not here not here not here! *hides in corner nibbling a cookie*
ReplyDeleteMy OC, called Emit Sargo, can time travel as a magical power. ^^
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong, Edward?
ReplyDeleteDragona how about we all just post when we want if we all atend the meetings!
ReplyDeleteIt needs to be a specific time, otherwise no one can write it up.
ReplyDeleteUnless people just add what they want to say underneath the reply thing.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean? Please EXPLAIN!
ReplyDeleteMY characters can time travel . . . Not just like that - *snaps fingers* - but yeah.
ReplyDeleteThank you. :)
Hey. SOrry, I realise I'm, like, four hours later than planned, but, meh. :P
ReplyDeleteI read through the comments, but got a /little/ lost.
Anyone care to explain where we're up to so far? :P
Erm... Ask Dragona there is a LOT we have decided!
DeleteSAME STAR SO I CAN LIK POP FROM HERE AND THERE! BUT ITS AT LEAST WHEN THEY EXCPECT IT!
ReplyDeleteI'm back! And not at all half drunk on blogland 2023! I may have used wine instead of water...
ReplyDeleteOk Taia, what we've kind of decided so far is that instead of the story on the post, although it'll be pretty much the same idea, some villains will be joining our OCs in the battle as they'll be against the more powerful ones. And we'll still have the meetings and stuff.
ReplyDeleteKilling time travelling monster is my method of choice.
ReplyDeleteRight. And what about battle cause?
ReplyDeleteI took an immediate liking to what Aquila said: "having no set good and evil". Like, with two separate and opposing causes, and people just take to each side, because they think that /that/ one is right. And, the past 'villains' could still be worked in, along with OCs, on either side?
Yeah I agree!
DeleteI mean, if the villains in the story on the post were set out ONLY for vengeance, they're not so likely to be working WITH those they want to take revenge on. ^^
ReplyDeleteThat'd just make it confusing, Taia. I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible for now, but maybe later on once our OCs have met with the villains then we could add something like that in.
ReplyDeleteDragona I need a answer so can we just post when we want if no why?
ReplyDeleteWait, am I confusing things again?
ReplyDelete*frowns*
I may have misunderstood that part with 'villains joining our OCs". Joining with, or joining against? :P
Well maybe for another reason? Seperate reasons? Some could be looking for revenge. Some others could be for other reasons.
ReplyDeleteTaia, joining WITH. As in fighting on the same side.
ReplyDeleteWhen we're sorting out the villains, THEN would be the best idea to sort out what the reasons are. For example, I know my villains would be out for revenge, and would absolutely hate Dragona. So they couldn't be on the same side.
ReplyDeleteThough maybe some other villains would be able to join sides with our OCs.
So this is what I think we should do:
ReplyDeleteTomorrow, figure out the characters who are going to be in the story.
Friday, the villains and their reasons.
Saturday, I'll post a thingy giving the general direction of the storyline.
Sunday - I'll begin writing the first part, as, kindly pointed out by Brad, it was my idea.
My villain is by now just trying to prove that he still hates my guy. It's unsure whether he really does or he's just trying.
ReplyDeleteEdward, so he and your OC would be able to work on the same team, though you'd have arguments etc.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think the villain would randomly drift sides.
ReplyDeleteI'm not even sure what characters I'm using. D:
ReplyDeleteSorry, I have to go now. But I'll be on tomorrow and I'll post again and yeah we have plenty of time to figure things out.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll leave as well. Stuff to do, tea to drink. Real tea this time. Bye!
ReplyDeleteHm. It's a good idea, but I feel like something doesn't quite fit...
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as though there are two sides/causes. I'm struggling to see how they'd just switch sides, suddenly, with the whole "evil & good" or "good guys / bad guys" kind of deal. Particularly if these people are, like, sworn enemies of the other people. ^^
(I think this may help to clarify what I mean. It also features stick figures and poor image quality: http://embracinglunatics.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/dead-reaping-question-ly-thing-p.html )
Not everyone is a sworn enemy of members of the other side. In fact, one of my villains is almost friends with my muse.
ReplyDelete*nods*
DeleteI get that. Each character is different.
I'm just kind of generalising, though. :) ^^
Almost.
ReplyDeleteLike, say, there's a chapter in Playing With Fire:
ReplyDeleteSpring-heeled Jack, realising Billy-Ray had tricked him into helping the Faceless Ones, and not wanting the old Gods back, lends Val a hand when she needs it, so she can go stop the Grotesquery (or something along those lines).
Val is a friend of Tanith's, so is, in theory, also Jack's enemy. But because they have a similar cause of action, he had to aid the people who he would otherwise fight.
So, perhaps, like in PWF, some cause brings people who could go against each other, and forces them to work WITH each other. On the same side. While those who would work with each other might also separate because they do not benefit from what their otherwise-allies are fighting for.
Does that make sense, at all?
I guess that could also be introduced later, if you wanted to start it with the simpler, 'good guys against bad guys', as we get into it.
I don't know. Just thoughts, y'know? Like, that might work as to bringing that OCs versus their enemies deal into being. And, yeah. :P ^^
I like that idea, too.
Delete*laughs*
DeleteWell, I guess my brain based it off of your idea, so... :P
*whistles innocently* ;)
DeleteI like that idea. Starting off with clearly defined boundaries, then sort of mixing around a little.
ReplyDelete*nods* I think that's what Dragona suggested before, too.
DeleteStill, there's plenty of time and people to discuss. It can be altered, dampened or not used at all, in whichever way works best, I suppose. ^^
Ideas are fun. :3
*nods slowly* I get that. :)
ReplyDeleteBut see, the people on one side would think they're on the good side, and the villains from other people's stories . . . they'd think they were on the good side as well.
And the same for the other side.
Yeah?
Unless they were simply after money/power/revenge/whatevs, in which case they would be on a side because they would think that side would get them it.
Yeah yeah? :)
*nods*
DeleteI think that's what I was thinking, too. :)
Which side is actually the 'good' side, would be left up to the readers, I guess, and the people writing are looking from the point of view of their characters, so that doesn't even have to reflect which the writer thinks is the good side.
And, yeah, money/power/revenge/other, for some. Everybody needs motivation, right? :)
Yeah I like that idea. :)
DeleteOk, so guys I've just had an idea for DR, how about there should be some subplots that lightly related to the main story of Dead Reaping?
ReplyDeleteSo hey.
ReplyDeleteGuys?
ReplyDelete
